Western Cape Info

The Western Cape Province is divided into 7 very diverse and unique regions. It extends from the sandy, semi-arid West Coast Region, around the Cape of Good Hope and then eastwards along the southern seaboard ending in Natures spectacular garden, the Garden Route. Inland, the Province includes the famed Cape Winelands, the breadbaskets of the Swartland and Overberg, the bewitching Breede River Valley and seemingly endless landscapes of the Klein and Central Karoo. Each region reflects its own individuality and welcomes those who delight in exploration.

Cape Town
The sprawling City of Cape Town is dominated by the craggy outcrops of Table Mountain, the sparkling waters and sandy shores of Table and False Bay and the distance border of assorted mountains. Cape Town has a myriad of attractions to entertain and enthral any visitor. This extensive region has been divided into the following 4 sections:-
Cape Winelands
The Cape Winelands region includes the historical settlements of Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Paarl, the appealing towns of the Breede River Valley and the friendly Hex River Valley district. These towns personify excellent wine estates, superb cuisine and outstanding hospitality. The famed route 62 meanders through this district which plays host to part of the longest wine route in the World.
   
Central Karoo
The Central Karoo, a natural wonder of the Scientific World, is a place of infinite horizons and endless plains. Situated in a landlocked region of South Africa, this thirstland is strangely beautiful and deeply mysterious. Ancient and fossil-rich with a legacy of rock art and archaeological artefacts this mysterious place entices you to return.
Garden Route
The Garden Route of South Africa has often been compared to the Garden of Eden. Majestic mountains, tranquil lakes and a fairyland of age-old forests create a playground for nature lovers and adrenaline junkies alike. This Garden touches your soul and revives your spirit.
   
Little Karoo
The Little Karoo region is renowned for its temperate climate, excellent vineyards and stunning geological landscapes. The quaint towns are culturally rich in history and the interesting locals compliment the uniqueness of this area. The longest wine route in the World meanders through this alternate scenic route. The magnificent Swartberg Pass and the incredible Cango Caves form part of this district.
Overberg
The Cape Overberg region is located on the southern-most tip of the African continent. Its coastline is famous for viewing the Southern Right Whales and it is recognized as one of the top wheat producing areas in South Africa.
   
West Coast
The West Coast Region of the Cape Province is made up of 3 very distinctive areas. They are: - the West Coast, the Swartland/Sandveld and the Olifants River Valley. This region is renowned for its supreme hospitality, unique vegetation and the breathtaking show of wildflowers that appear every Spring time.
