Mpumalanga, the Place of the Rising Sun, is home to some of South Africa’s most enthralling and spectacular attractions. A journey through this Province will reveal cultural, historical and geological diversity that is guaranteed to take you on a fascinating and remarkable expedition. The Mpumalanga Province borders the legendary Kruger National Park, the Provinces of Limpopo, Free State, Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal and the neighbouring countries of Mozambique and Swaziland. The province is made up of the following 7 regions: - Cosmos Country, Grass and Wetlands, Cultural Heartlands, Highlands Meander, Panorama, Wild Frontier and Lowveld Legogote.

Cosmos Country
The Cosmos Country Region of South Africa is aptly named after the abundance of cosmos plants that swathe this area with a show of colour every summer. This region is one of the country´s most productive districts as it is supports both a wealth of farming and mining industries. Cosmos Country is home to the World´s largest underground coal mining complex.
Cultural Heartland
This region of Mpumalanga is known as the Cultural Heartland as it has maintained and preserved the traditional way of life of the Ndebele tribes that live here. This area is rich in historic memoirs and relics and offers unusual attractions to its visitors. The Cultural Heartland is home to some of the largest of the Power Stations that feed electricity to South Africa.
   
Grass And Wetlands
The Grass and Wetlands region is predominantly a farming district and it is named after the many undulating grasslands and sheltered wetlands that are found here. This fragile ecosystem is renowned and revered for its excellent birding conditions. This portion of Mpumalanga borders the Free State, KwaZulu-Natal and the Kingdom of Swaziland.
Highlands Meander
The Highlands Meander Region of Mpumalanga is considered to be one of South Africa´s top fly-fishing destinations. This spectacular region has an assortment of exhilarating outdoor attractions on offer as well as historical and architectural marvels. The Highlands Meander Region is home to the renowned RAMSAR accredited Verloren Vallei Nature Reserve and Wetland.
   
Lowveld Legogote
The Lowveld Legogote Region is home to the Capital of Mpumalanga as well as some of the top Wildlife Reserves in the World. The Lowveld region of South Africa is synonymous with subtropical climate, exotic vegetation and tropical fruit farms. This area offers a wide variety of attractions and activities to its visitors and the inhabitants are renowned for their warm hospitality.
Panorama
The Panorama Region of Mpumalanga is aptly named as it is undoubtedly one of the most visually stunning areas in South Africa. This region encompasses the dramatic topography of the Escarpment before the immense plunge to the Lowveld district. The Panorama is renowned for its picturesque and quaint towns, the stupendous scenery and the many tourist attractions within its surrounds.
   
Wild Frontier
The Wild Frontier Region of Mpumalanga shares its subtropical borders with the countries of Swaziland and Mozambique as well as the southern part of the renowned Kruger National Park. This section of South Africa is celebrated for its historical, geological and archaeological wealth and is home to many game and nature reserves.
