Gauteng (the Place of Gold) is the smallest Province of South Africa and yet it is considered to be the economic powerhouse of Southern Africa. It is home to South Africas Administrative Capital as well as the countries Financial Centre. The Gauteng Province consists of the following 5 regions; Johannesburg Metropolitan (Central Gauteng), Tshwane Metropolitan and Metsweding (Northern Gauteng), Ekurhuleni (Eastern Gauteng), Sedibeng (Southern Gauteng), West Rand (Western Gauteng).

Ekurhuleni (Eastern Gauteng) The Ekurhuleni district of Gauteng is situated east of the City of Johannesburg. This area is predominantly a mining and industrial region with many man-made lakes, striking parks and conservation areas that have been created to beautify these locales. Ekurhuleni is home to the largest airport in Africa, the O.R. Tambo International Airport, and offers a variety of historical, cultural and architectural marvels.
Johannesburg Metro (Central Gauteng) The Johannesburg Metropolitan is situated on a high altitude plateau about 1753 metres above sea-level. Although a landlocked region which is neither close to an Ocean nor major river, this large central area is ranked as the biggest port in Southern Africa due to its excellent import/export services. The renowned township of Soweto is included in this region of Gauteng.
Sedibeng (Southern Gauteng) The Sedibeng District is situated in the south eastern part of the Gauteng Province and is undoubtedly dominated by the impressive Vaal River. This region is home to the renowned Sharpeville Township where Nelson Mandela signed the South African Constitution in 1996. Sedibeng offers its visitors a vast cultural heritage with significant historical sites as well as a variety of outdoor attractions and leisure activities.
Tshwane Metro and Metsweding (Northern Gauteng) The Tshwane Metropolitan area is dominated by the stately and historical buildings of the City of Pretoria and its many sprawling suburbs. Beautiful parks, cultural wonders, impressive monuments and museums combined with excellent hospitality, good food and entertainment ensure excellent occasions. The Metsweding district of Bronkhorstspruit and Cullinan offers a more rural laid-back charm.
West Rand (Western Gauteng) The West Rand Region of the Gauteng Province is host to many wonders of the World and boasts the richest legacies in South Africa. The Sterkfontein and Wonder Caves, Mrs Ples (the oldest known citizen), the foothills of the ancient mountain range of the Magaliesberg, the wildlife sanctuaries, conservancies and gardens are but a few of these marvels. This attractive region has much to offer its visitors and itīs a mere 45 minutes drive from the City of Johannesburg. The West Rand is made up of the following districts: - Merafong City, Mogale City, Randfontein and Westonaria.
