Alfred Nzo
The Alfred Nzo District is situated in the north-eastern part of the Eastern Cape, bordering KwaZulu-Natal and Lesotho. This area experiences high rainfall and some extreme weather due to its high altitude. The Alfred Nzo District is the smallest region within the Eastern Cape and agricultural activities are its principal industry.
Amatole
The Amatole District is named after the impressive Amatole Mountains and is situated in the eastern part of the Eastern Cape. This diverse region extends along the coastline from the Great Fish River to the Dwesa/Cwebe Nature Reserve. The Amatole region is home to Bisho, the capital of the Eastern Cape, and includes Buffalo City´s river port, East London. This district is blessed with fantastic eco-tourism activities and rich cultural history.
   
Cacadu
The Cacadu District is the largest region in the Eastern Cape and covers the temperate coastline as well as the Karoo interior. This area is one of great diversity and is renowned for its many National Parks and Reserves, tourist routes and heritage sites. The Cacadu encompasses the beautiful Tsitsikamma forests, the invigorating Baviaanskloof Wilderness Area and the solitude of the Camdeboo Conservancy. Cacadu offers an assortment of attractions that would suit any tourist.
Chris Hani
The Chris Hani Region is situated in the centre of the Eastern Cape Province and incorporates parts of the Karoo area. This region is primarily renowned for its livestock farming including its mohair and wool products and is home to the famous Mountain Zebra National Park.
   
Nelson Mandela Metropole
The Nelson Mandela Metropole is the only metropolitan municipality in the Eastern Cape and is one of 6 in South Africa. This Metropole is renowned for its tourism attractions, the cultural diversity, the sports facilities and most importantly its lively seaport. One of the most significant industries operating within this area is the Automobile assemblies which contribute greatly to the economic growth of this district. This Metropole is made up of Port Elizabeth, Uitenhage, Despatch and Coega.
Oliver Tambo
The Oliver Tambo District is situated in the north-eastern part of the Eastern Cape and includes the former Transkei homelands. The exhilarating Pondoland and Wild Coast coastlines are considered to be prize tourism locations and are home to many Resorts and Nature Reserves. The village of Qunu is located in this region and is renowned as being the birth place of the former President, Mr Nelson Mandela.
   
Ukhahlamba
The Ukhahlamba District is situated in the northern part of the Eastern Cape, bordering the Free State Province and the Kingdom of Lesotho. The southern part of the Drakensberg Mountain Range dominates this region and is renowned for its fantastic tourist adventure locations. Ukhahlamba is also well known for its livestock farming which includes wool and mohair products. Ukhahlamba is the Xhosa name for the Drakensberg Mountains.
